Serial-to-Ethernet is one of the applications from the all-in-one update project that comes pre-installed on your JNIOR. You only need to enable the Serial-to-Ethernet application to start on boot. Opening the JNIOR’s WebUI, and going to the applications section of the Configuration tab clicking the checkbox next to Serial-to-Ethernet enables it to run on boot. You’ll need to restart the JNIOR for this to take affect.

Serial-to-Ethernet acts as a converter between a Serial device connected to the JNIOR and a remote application communicating with the JNIOR. This allows remote application to communicate with a serial device even if the serial device can’t establish an Ethernet connection, and vice versa. This implies that the connection made using to Serial-to-Ethernet is bi-directional so that information can travel both ways.
A connection can be made to the JNIOR using Serial-to-Ethernet, by using the TCP port 9201 for the Ethernet connection and the following values for the Serial connection:
- Baud Rate: 9600
- Data Bits: 8
- Stop Bits: 1
- Parity: No Parity
