Serial-to-Ethernet is one of the applications from the Bundled update project that comes pre-installed on your JNIOR. You only need to enable the Serial-to-Ethernet application to start on boot. Opening the JNIOR’s WebUI, and going to the applications section of the Configuration tab clicking the checkbox next to Serial-to-Ethernet enables it to run on boot. You’ll need to restart the JNIOR for this to take effect.

Serial-to-Ethernet is a converter between a Serial device connected to the JNIOR’s serial port and a remote application communicating with the JNIOR via TCP. This allows a remote device to communicate with a serial device even if the serial device can’t establish an Ethernet connection, and vice versa. This implies that the connection made using Serial-to-Ethernet is bi-directional, so information can travel both ways.

NOTE: Devices communicating with each other serially are either a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) or a DCE (Data Communication Equipment) device. The JNIOR is a DCE device, and if the device it’s connecting to serially is also a DCE device, it may require a null modem serial cable.
